2012 Academy Awards : The 84th Oscars!

And the winner is - Oscar! Compared to my post recapping the Grammy's the Academy Awards'  fashion blew me away! Yesterday the Fabulous faces of mass media glitzed down yet another red carpet for us to gawk, critique and swoon! There's nothing like watching a bunch of multi-millionaires give away gold to ease the pain of the record unemployment rate!  I could go on, and on about the nominees, winners and really funny (men with french accents) and boring moments (Thank-you speeches), but this post is about what we all really care about - gowns, shoes, jewelry and Bradley Cooper! - well, at least that is what is important here in the BesosLaila camp.

On the carpet tonight was a lot of beautiful gowns - in white, cream & off white! The complete opposite of the Grammy's where this year's trend report was an abundance of black! My favorite look of the four is Giuliana Rancic! The gown, The make-up and her hair all work so perfectly! She looks effortlessly elegant - I love it! I've also noticed a lot of long sleeves on the carpet! I'm sure if you recap the night, you would spot it as well.

[L-R] Kristen Wiig, Angelina Jolie, Michelle Williams, Jennifer Lopez, Octavia Spencer, Tina Fey, Emma Stone,
Meryl Streep (not pictured)

I literally want all of these dresses! I ordered the dresses to my liking - one for everyday of the week!  My favorite head to toe  looks are Kristen Wiig, Angelina Jolie, and Octavia Spencer! My favorite color is adorned by Ms. Stone, and if I could make the perfect dress I would have Angelina's style, Emma's color and Michelle's broach attached to the side! Perfect! F.Y.I! It took 300 hours to make Michelle's dress!
[L-R] Sandra Bullock, Melissa McCarthy,  Berenice Bejo, Viola Davis, Sherri Shepherd (not pictured) Livia Giuggioli (not pictured) Wendi McLendon-Covey (not pictured) Amara Miller,
This may be a difficult pill to swallow but I HATED Sandra's dress! I thought it made her look older (sophisticated) in an awful way! - Proof that every Marchesa dress is NOT a show stopper! (Gasp - Harsh!) I haven't watched the movie Bridesmaids but I heard it was hilarious and so was Melissa McCarthy's dress! I felt like the color was a terrible choice for her skin tone and the dress made her look more wide (I hated the sleeves!) The dress made me think "Pig-in-a-blanket"! She has a gorgeous face and I've seen heavier woman dressed to perfection so the weight is no excuse! Berenice! You will never win an Oscar in that dress, although I've definitely seen worse gowns on the carpet, but you're so beautiful you could make ALMOST anything look amazing and even your beauty wasn't strong enough to woo us in that gown. Viola, how I love you! You earned top points in my best dressed webizine a few weeks ago, but tonight although the color choice was magnificent, the dress looked like a nightmare on oscar street! Hated it!

[L-R] Rachel Smith, Maria Menounos, Giulana Rancic,
Here I'm giving you all a peek of my style and what I would wear (if I was ever to walk a red carpet!) I love flowy fabrics and simple silhouettes! I love pastel colors & neutrals on my skin complexion! I'm attending a wedding coming up soon and I'm going in search for a bargain version of Rachel's gown! - FAB STAMP OF APPROVAL!

Who were your favorites and nightmares? Which would you wear? Comment Below, lets Convo!

  1. The closet cravings are to die for....oh my oh my oh my........ Hair and make-up fantastic except perhaps for Rachel Smith's hair. Gorgeous, but she's hiding that fantastic piece of jewellery and her gorgeous shoulders. A simple soft up-do would have completed her look.
